Discovery
Define Scope Properly Before Build
We have observed through experience that a high percentage of IT projects run over budget or fail to meet expectations for the same reason: scope was not properly defined before work began.
Discovery is a short, structured engagement where we clarify requirements, system structure, integrations, and constraints — so the work can be executed cleanly and priced accurately.
Without this step, estimates are unreliable and projects are exposed to scope drift. Discovery ensures both sides understand exactly what is being built before delivery begins.
What Discovery Establishes
During Discovery we work to understand:
• The workflow your system needs to support
• How different users will interact with the system
• What tools or platforms need to connect
• The environment the system will operate in
• Constraints that affect implementation
• The boundaries of the project
The result is a clear, structured scope that enables reliable delivery planning and smooth execution.
What Discovery Produces
Discovery produces a structured scope summary defining:
• System structure
• Workflow logic
• Integration requirements
• User roles and permissions
• Environment context
• Assumptions and constraints
• Scope boundaries
This output allows the delivery phase to proceed with clarity and predictability on both sides.
How Discovery Progresses
Step 1 — Initial discussion to understand the problem and confirm fit.
Step 2 — Discovery band confirmed and engagement authorised.
Step 3 — Structured Discovery sessions conducted.
Step 4 — Delivery-ready scope produced and agreed.
Step 5 — Delivery proposal prepared.
Discovery Pricing
Discovery is a fixed-fee engagement. The fee reflects the structural complexity of the work being scoped — not the time spent.
Three bands apply, covering contained single-workflow systems through to multi-system or structurally complex environments. The appropriate band is confirmed after an initial discussion.
Discovery is not a commitment to proceed with delivery. It is the structured step that allows accurate planning to begin.
